Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, Explained Before the Booking Window Opens

Walt Disney World’s newest resort opens on July 1, 2027, right on the shores of Bay Lake, and reservations open the first week of October 2026. New resorts tend to book quickly in their first months, so here is every detail I have gathered, plus how I would approach a first stay.

Quick answer

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is a Disney Vacation Club resort on Bay Lake, between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness, opening July 1, 2027. You do not need to be a member to stay. Reservations open October 6, 2026 for DVC Members, October 7 for Annual Passholders, and October 8 for everyone else. The signature stay is the Lake Houses, freestanding homes on the water’s edge and a first for Walt Disney World. Rates have not been published yet, and the Lake Houses are the rooms I would move on first.

When Reservations Open

Booking opens in stages over three days, by the categories below. In my experience, the most sought-after rooms at a brand-new resort are claimed in the first weeks, so it pays to know which window applies to you and be ready.

The resort opens

One more date worth knowing if you are a Disney Vacation Club member: eligible members can book a First Wave stay from June 24 to 27, 2027, a three-night preview before opening day. It includes resort dining, member perks, and theme park tickets, and it books only by phone through DVC Member Services with full payment at booking. If that appeals to you, I am glad to help plan the rest of that trip around it.

Where It Is and What It Feels Like

Lakeshore Lodge sits in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area on Bay Lake, between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness, on the land that was once River Country, Disney’s very first water park. Being in the resort area matters: a water taxi carries you straight to Magic Kingdom, and you wake up inside the quietest corner of Walt Disney World property.

The theme is the beauty of nature and how it inspired Disney’s animators, with rooms and spaces drawn from Pocahontas, Bambi, Encanto, Fantasia, and Brother Bear. The lobby is inspired by Pocahontas, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out to Bay Lake, a glowing fiber optic river running through the floor, and a suspended glass sculpture inspired by “Colors of the Wind.” Just past the lobby, Branch & Brush overlooks the lake with a chandelier that shifts through all four seasons. There are 967 accommodations in total.

The Rooms, from a Room for Two to a House on the Water

There is a true range here, and the right choice depends on how many of you are traveling and how much of the trip you want to live at the resort itself.

Resort Studios

Pocahontas theming with Grandmother Willow pillows. Queen rooms sleep four, King rooms sleep two. Mini fridge, microwave, and a balcony in select rooms. Select studios include Club Level.

Duo and Deluxe Studios

Duo Studios, drawn from Encanto, sleep two with a pull-down queen and a spa-style bath. Deluxe Studios, drawn from Bambi, sleep four with a kitchenette, dual sinks, and a walk-in shower. Both have a private balcony.

One and Two Bedroom Villas

Bambi inspired, sleeping five or nine. Full kitchen, dining room, soaking tub, washer and dryer, and a private patio or balcony. The workhorse category for families who eat breakfast in.

Three Bedroom Grand Villas

Fantasia themed and made for big family trips. Sleeps twelve, with a primary suite, two more baths, a full kitchen, and laundry.

The Lake Houses

The showstoppers, and a first for Walt Disney World: freestanding A-frame houses right on the water’s edge, with Brother Bear artwork and a Northern Lights inspired light in the primary bedroom. Choose a one bedroom (sleeps five) or two bedroom (sleeps eight), each with two baths, a full kitchen, separate living and dining areas, laundry, and a private porch facing Bay Lake.

Club Level and the Hidden Willow Suite

Club Level guests get access to The Artist’s Nest, a lounge set above the tree line with views of Cinderella Castle and the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Expect snacks and drinks through the day, a dedicated concierge for dining, tickets, and transportation, and personal planning support from Disney Signature Services.

The Hidden Willow Presidential Suite is the most elevated stay at the resort: two bedrooms, two full baths, a full kitchen, sleeping six, with a balcony and fireworks views over Bay Lake. Artist’s Nest access is included. If fireworks matter to your family, Club Level and the suite are the two ways to see them well from the resort itself, and Cypress Point and Dandelion Terrace give everyone else a fine spot too.

Pools and Play

The pool area is called The Wetlands. Lakeshore Lagoon is the zero-entry feature pool with a spiral waterslide, and Daydream River is a lazy river winding past the palms. Little ones will love Otter Springs for splash play and Heron Shores for dry play and climbing. For grown ups, Cypress Point is a quieter leisure pool and whirlpool spa with a view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks at night.

Beyond the pools: bike rentals, campfires and marshmallow roasting, fishing excursions, jogging trails, Movies Under the Stars, and the Electrical Water Pageant gliding past the resort each night, weather permitting. This is a resort built for days you do not leave for a park at all.

Dining and Lounges

Moonglade

The lakeside table service restaurant, built around seasonal and local ingredients.

Paint Out Point Bar & Grill

Open-air, casual American fare and shareables overlooking Bay Lake.

Bay Lake Provisions

The marketplace for quick meals, snacks, and specialty coffee.

Branch & Brush

Handcrafted cocktails just off the lobby.

Dandelion Terrace

A fireworks viewing spot with a two-story collection of archival Disney artwork.

As always, I will watch reservation windows for you and set the table-service bookings the moment your dates are eligible. Dining at a brand-new resort is its own quiet competition in the first months.

Getting Around and Good to Know

A water taxi takes you straight to Magic Kingdom, and Disney buses run to the other parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. Both are included with your stay, and Minnie Van service is available for an added fee. As a Disney Resort guest you also get Early Theme Park Entry, Extended Evening Hours on select nights, and first access to dining reservations and Lightning Lane purchases, with park tickets required.

Check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM. Overnight self parking is included for resort guests, and valet is $42 per night plus tax. The address is 632 W. Wilderness Way, Bay Lake, FL 32830.

My Honest Take

Having stayed at every luxury resort on Disney property, here is what stands out to me. The Lake Houses are something Walt Disney World has never offered, and there are a limited number of them, so if a private home on the water is your dream, that is the room I would move on first.

One planning note: the opening date is July 1, right before the Fourth of July holiday, which means summer heat and holiday crowds. For a calmer first visit, I would look at late summer or fall 2027. Disney has not published room rates yet, so I will have exact pricing for your dates the moment reservations open. Tell me your ideal dates and room type, and I will be ready to book for you the day reservations open.

Start Your Inquiry

Tell me your ideal dates, who is traveling, and the room you are dreaming about, from a studio to a Lake House. I will come back with real pricing for your dates the moment reservations open and hold the plan from there. There is no obligation.
